It is National Trust noted, has been featured in The Land Newspaper and on Mid-State TV. As part of the sesqui centenary of the post office, the house was put on a frank. Built in 1875 by the McDonald brothers as a general store. In 1880 the original post office, which was located on the opposite side of the creek, was moved to the purpose built skillion side of the house. Complaints that it was too difficult to get over the creek and marshy land, even by horseback prompted the move. It is said that Ben Hall slept here. In 1889 the first telegram service was installed and in 1907 a local telephone exchange started operation. A full trunkline service and Commonwealth Bank was set up in 1913. Later it became frock shop and drapery store and a collection point for the 1st World War effort.
